Modern style staircase railings
Art Nouveau Stair Railings
Swing gates, fences, stair railings, balcony and fireplace grates have changed under the pressure of Art Nouveau. It has filled architecture, painting and even stained glass art. The emergence of a new style has given a second life to artistic forging. Plastic and lightweight metal has once again proven that it has inexhaustible possibilities limited by the designer's imagination. Artel's forging workshop still works in this style, creating elegant compositions for people with taste.
Art Nouveau is a fleeting style that has left an indelible mark on history
Artistic trends are formed over the centuries, changing and absorbing new features. Their time of appearance is a matter of debate. If they are characterized by blurred time boundaries, then Art Nouveau has a clear period of takeoff. It appeared in 1890 and was actively used until 1917. Less than 30 years later, Europe was transformed.
Art Nouveau, Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Secession, Liberty and Tiffany are all names of the same artistic movement. The multifaceted Art Nouveau filled England, spread across Europe and came to America. In every corner of the world, it left a mark and received different nicknames. Wherever it was, it was recognized by its characteristic features:
- absence of straight lines and angles;
- fragile and airy elements;
- asymmetry at the base of the composition;
- emphasis on natural, rather than decorative patterns.
During its existence, Art Nouveau fiercely fought against eclecticism, carving out its place in the sun. Noble estates were decorated with forged items, in which the technical and aesthetic lines clearly stood out. Art Nouveau used a lot of machine labor. This can be seen in the clear sections of the stair railings, the interior of which is filled with flowers, curved stems and leaves.
Another characteristic feature of Art Nouveau was color, which was constantly experimented with. Black forged items began to be decorated with elements painted "under gold" and even "under "wood". The masters tried to accurately convey not only the shape, but also the color of the things in which they found inspiration. Standard gratings sparkled with new colors thanks to stylized plants and flowers.

Artistic forging emphasized the plastic asymmetrical lines:
- plant elements;
- irises, orchids and flowers with long stems;
- cyclamen stems, which in Europe were nicknamed "whiplash" because of its curved loop shape;
- lines and curls flowing from one to another;
- lines imitating grass swaying in the wind;
- curves reminiscent of the shape of "dancing" tongues of flame;
- volutes.
Forged products are complex and diverse compositions with curvilinear outlines, smooth transitions and volumetric inserts of decorative elements. Art Nouveau railings are installed inside and outside the building.
